INDY BASS CLUB
The Indy Bass Club (IBC) is a non federated bass fishing club of approximately fifty members who share the common interest of bass fishing, friendly competition and preservation of our natural resources. The club is based mainly on the southside of Indianapolis although we have members from Greencastle, Lizton, Coatsville, Avon, Noblesville and Greenfield. The club was formed in 1983 with 4 boats and the original name of the club was Westside Indy Lunker Landers and changed to Indy Bass Club in the late 80's. Members wanted the competition of tournaments, yet in friendly, honest and open environment where your competitors are also your friends. In the last few years we have included Volunteerism to our mission including Kids' Fishing Clinics, Charity Tournaments, staffing the Indiana State Fair Fishing Pond and boaters for IU, Purdue and Ball State University Bass Clubs. Our members vary from the more experienced angler to newcomers looking to start their fishing career. Our membership consist of husband/wife, father/son, friends and individuals.
"It's What We Do"
INDY BASS CLUB “3rd Annual Halloween Havoc” deemed a success
but a tough day for some!
The 3th annual Indy Bass Club Halloween Havoc Open Tournament at Geist had 29 teams participate. Weather started the day in the high 30’s low 40’s with the water temperature hovering in the low to mid 50’s. Of the 29 teams only 12 teams weighed in making it a tough day for some. First place went to Josh and Matt McDermott with 5 fish weighing in at 12.32lbs. A close second place went to Jeff Pontius / Travis Ray team with 5 fish weighing in at 11.71lbs. Third place went to team Todd Irwin / Kevin Voorhis with 5 fish weighing in at 10.72lbs and fourth place went to team Al Hopkins and Ray Boalug with 5 fish weighing in at 9.06lbs. Big bass for the day was 4.11lbs turned in by team Jeff Pontius and Travis Ray. Joins us again next year for our 4th annual Halloween Havoc scheduled October 27, 2012.
Wrapping up a Great Season of Fishing
Thanks for the great season. Jeff and I had some tough tournaments and had some good tournaments. In the good tournaments, we made good decisions on the water. We moved when it was necessary and we stayed when we needed to. We were able to communicate and work together to add more weight to our live well. When the fishing got tough, we always went back to what worked.
Heading into the Classic, the pressure was on. We had a 1 point lead over the field. On Day One, the fishing was tough. We weighed in three fish for 10.10 pounds, which was short of our goal of five fish but did have a substantial weight. Day Two on the water - conditions had changed and the fish weren’t where we had found them the day before. We changed our presentations and midway through the day moved toward the main lake. This decision netted us two more fish giving us a Day Two total of 6.40 pounds. Fortunately, this was enough to hang on to the lead and win the tournament.

2011 Indiana State Fair Fishing Pond

Indy Bass Club volunteers staff the Indiana State Fair Fishing Pond on Saturday August 20th 2011 and assisted over 160 youth have the opportunity to catch huge Blue Gill and some nice Cat Fish. The weather wasn't to bad for Mid August in Indiana, temps were in the mid to upper 80's but we were blessed with some cloud cover for most of the day. The fishing was pretty steady for the junior anglers, many caught their 3 fish limit before the 15 minute time limit was reached. If fishing was slow at a particular location anglers were sent to the "Magic Circle" to see if we could get them on some fish. Anglers, Parents and Volunteers had a great time and we are already looking forward to volunteering for the 2012 Fishing Pond. Thanks to Clinton Kowalick the Go FishIN Coordinator for organizing the event and the Indy Bass Club Members and their families for volunteering their time to staff this awesome event.
